Overview

External Payment Services is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead high-impact initiatives for new consumer-facing payments products. This role sits at the intersection of technology, product, and business execution, ensuring projects are delivered with exceptional standards for security, performance, availability, and reliability.

As a bridge between External Payment Services and internal teams that depend on our infrastructure, you will define requirements, shape delivery plans, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and help drive the launch of innovative payment experiences. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-moving team building a growing business with meaningful influence on the future direction of the platform.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical programs for consumer-facing payments products from concept through launch and post-deployment support.
  • Define business and technical requirements in partnership with product, engineering, operations, and internal customer teams.
  • Develop detailed project plans, milestones, dependencies, and delivery timelines to ensure timely execution.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams to remove blockers, manage risks, and keep initiatives on track.
  • Serve as escalation point for program issues, making sound tradeoff decisions between business goals and technical constraints.
  • Partner with engineers and designers to help shape web features and site functionality that meet business and customer needs.
  • Track delivery status, communicate progress clearly to stakeholders, and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Support product deployment by working closely with technical and non-technical business owners to ensure readiness and adoption.
  • Maintain a strong focus on system reliability, operational readiness, and customer impact throughout the program lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience coordinating cross-functional teams and working effectively across different groups within an organization.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical requirements and delivery plans.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing tradeoffs, prioritizing competing demands, and making decisions under ambiguity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Java, and HTML.
  • Experience working in payments or mobile payments is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong product and program management capabilities.
  • Ability to drive execution with business owners, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to achieve results.
